Welcome from Jamieson Slough, President of VSC
I am proud to welcome you to the new updated and expanded website of The Vista Soccer Club. I believe that it will introduce our club well to you, and will encourage you to learn more about it. Indeed this newly constructed site presents in words and pictures much of the history, tradition, and ongoing excellence of this soccer club – in fact almost everything, except, of course, the unique spirit of the club.
For now, if I were to point to one image that captures that spirit, it would be our athletes, over one thousand amazing kids that are literally and symbolically the heart of The Club. Let me tell you about them.
Our athletes range from 4 – 19 years of age with various abilities, skills, and energy. Their passion for “the beautiful game” is seen throughout Vista as you can routinely see our players on various fields dribbling, shooting, saving, and cheering. Our featured Vista Sports Park captures the essence of competitive play for our Storm Program, but is equally rivaled by the play at Rancho Del Oro, Lake Park, Roosevelt Middle School, and Washington Middle School. In any one weekend, over one thousand children play the beautiful game in one of the most beautiful place in the world.
On those fields you will see that The Vista Soccer Club is old, and esteems the past, regarding highly the men and women who created The Club in 1982, and honoring those who have nourished and sustained it through challenging economic times. Thus it is fitting that on the fields, for example, we learn anew the ideals and principles, which have guided boys and girls of virtue for decades: honesty, respect for others, accountability for our actions, hard work, fair play, humility – values of such durability and timelessness that we teach them just as vigorously today as we did in 1982.
So too you will see on those fields that this great old club also honors the present, fully aware that our athletes are young men and young women of the 21st century, with all of the opportunities and challenges that it affords. With excellent coaching, state-of-the-art facilities, a soccer system that reflects the best knowledge of what to teach and how to teach it, and most importantly an extraordinary volunteer staff who exhaustively strive to understand the needs of our young people and to support them as they learn each day. The Vista Soccer Club does not dwell in the past, but learns from it to create a thoroughly modern club that validates its mission every day.
And why? To prepare our athletes for the future. Ultimately, great old clubs are about tomorrow. A club like The Vista Soccer Club is not great because it is old; it is old because it is great, and has set the standard for excellence for years. As before, we will prepare our athletes not just for tomorrow, or for a year or two from now, but for ages hence (when they will apply to college, for their first real job, accept appointment as president of the company, and possibly marriage.)
That is what a great experience at a great club is about. It is what you will find here at The Vista Soccer Club. Just walk around our fields throughout Vista, and you can see it all. You can see the past, the present, and the future.
That’s what you’ll see and feel when you visit us here in Vista, CA. I would be proud to welcome you someday to our club. Meantime, please enjoy our dynamic new site.
