Vista Soccer Club - "No Better Place to Play"

About Us

The Vista Soccer Club (VSC), a local non-profit organization, has been serving the Cities of Vista, Oceanside and the North County Communities since 1982. Our Club is sanctioned by the California Youth Soccer Association (CYSA). We offer competitive and recreational youth soccer programs for boys and girls ages four to eighteen. Vista is acknowledged to have probably the finest and most moderate climate of any city in the United States, so we run both Spring and Fall outdoor soccer programs. Come out and play!

Recreation

The purpose of the VSC Recreation Leagues, is to help youth develop good sportsmanship; meet new friends; and to help mold and strengthen character in our youth while they have fun. Recreational soccer is grounded on parent participation. For any random group of 12 players, one parent must be willing to complete a coaches licensing course and be approved through Risk Management. Recreational soccer is divided into age specific Divisions which are separated by gender during the Fall Season. In the Spring, we typically run a Co-ed Recreation Program.

Divisions are as follows:

Recreation Soccer Program Birthday Matrix for Fall 2008

July 31, 2004 - August 1, 2002 Division 7 (Under 6 - Soccer Ball Size 3)

July 31, 2002 - August 1, 2000 Division 6 (Under 8 - Soccer Ball Size 3)

July 31, 2000 - August 1, 1998 Division 5 (Under 10 - Soccer Ball Size 4)

July 31, 1998 - August 1, 1996 Division 4 (Under 12 - Soccer Ball Size 4)

July 31, 1996 - August 1, 1994 Division 3 (Under 14 - Soccer Ball Size 5)

July 31, 1994 - August 1, 1992 Division 2 (Under 16 - Soccer Ball Size 5)

July 31, 1992 - August 1, 1990 Division 1 (Under 18 - Soccer Ball Size 5)

Each of these Divisions is unique:

Divisions 7 and 6 are intended to be purely instructional and non-competitive (no official scores are kept).

Division 5 (Under age 10) is more competitive, the purpose being to provide a fun environment in which the emphasis is placed on teaching soccer skills, team play and good sportsmanship.

Divisions 4 (Under Age 12 [U12]) and Division 3 (Under Age 14 [U14]) are more competitive, with more emphasis being placed on improving soccer skills.

Divisions 2 (Under Age 16 [U12]) through Division 1 (Under Age 18 [U18]) are only held if enough players enroll to create 4 or more teams.

Following the completion of the regular season, Divisions 5 and up compete in League playoffs. After League Playoffs, Divisions 6 through 3 field All-Star teams, which are part of the club's Competitive (STORM Program. First is an Intra-League All-Star Tournament, followed by the local Mesa All-Stars Recreational Tournament, which gives the best recreation players from our league the opportunity to compete against the best players from other leagues.

Rules and Regulations:

The soccer rules are governed by FIFA with individual rules and field dimensions set for each Division.

Eligibility:

Vista Soccer Club is open to all youth aged 4 to 18 (as of July 31st, 2008). For Spring Soccer we only serve up to Under 9 years of age. VSC uses the boundaries of Vista Unified School District (VUSD) as our main criteria to play. Most of our players come from the Cities of Oceanside and Vista, with additional players from adjacent North County cities (San Marcos, Escondido, Carlsbad, Fallbrook) and unincorporated (Bonsall) areas.

Sportsmanship:

All players must conduct themselves according to principles of good sportsmanship. We insist that managers, coaches, and parents do the same. Abusive and foul language will not be tolerated, and consumption of alcoholic beverages at practices and games is not allowed.

Want to make some easy cash?

How about becoming a Jr. Referee? Jr. Referees are Vista Soccer Club players that work Division 6 and Division 7 games and are paid $5 per game. Classes are free and last 1.5 hours. Students are given a workbook, T-shirt and whistle. Watch our NEWS Page and CALENDAR Page for upcoming classes.

For older players, there are 1 and 3 day(s) classes that can teach you to be a USSF Referee. If you are a player this will help you better understand the game of soccer.

But I play on the weekends!

We will schedule around your soccer schedule.

If I am a parent can I do this?

YES! We can work around your child’s games and you will not be refereeing your own child’s games.

What about me? I’m a coach.

You can referee also, you can get a better understanding of the game and become a better coach.

All in all this a great opportunity for everybody. For more information on Jr. Referees or USSF Referees, please contact Chris Robbins at (760) 940-8804.
